Douglass Cornerstone is a 501c3 nonprofit organization that extends a helping hand to residents of the Douglass Community.  Our purpose is to exemplify the agape love of Christ to residents that once took pride in their community, but now have began to  fall prey to hopelessness.  It is our hearts' desire to provide the type of love that not only gives a hand out to survive but also a  hand up to  thrive.  We look for individuals, resources and agencies to join us in providing hands on support in caring and sharing.  Not only because caring and sharing heals, but because it builds.  It is our desire to impact the Douglass Community residents in such a way that the love demonstrated towards them, equips and empowers the community for generations to come.

​​​​​​​Douglass Cornerstone offers community outreach and the following projects listed, including meals to the homeless of the Douglass Community: Mentor/Volunteer Appreciation Dinner; Skits and Plays, For the Kingdom Camp 2014 and 2015; Kids Across America Kamp 2016; Sponsored Summer Break Cook-Out; Back to School Supply Drive; Mentor ​Study Habit Sessions, Mentor Sessions on ‘How to Hold Yourself Accountable?’ And Thanksgiving Dinner Fellowship. Youth participation in Faith in action Memphis Clean-up Event and Douglass Community Expo Parade.

 

 

 

Our mission is simple: Fostering commitments to youth and families that promote stability and assert hope in the Douglass community.

Despite the significant challenge of losing its physical space, our organization remained steadfast in its mission, powered by the resilience of our volunteers and the unwavering support of our donor community. Over the past year, we continued operations without interruption—proof of our deep community roots and shared commitment to creating safe, nurturing spaces for youth and families. Our programming fostered meaningful increases in parental involvement and led to the measurable improvement in youth academic performance, reinforcing the value of holistic, family-centered support. Perhaps most notably, our presence and engagement in the Douglas Community contributed to a visible reduction in illicit activities, reflecting, both the trust, we built in the effectiveness of our grassroots, community-informed approach.
